Details: Spring-Summer-Fall, mechanical ability, interest in bicycles, and sales experience a MUST.

Also, more immediately, we are hiring a part-time barista extraordinaire.
Duties will include: using a cash register, preparing espresso drinks and cafe fare, food prep, and baking.

Details: you MUST be available to work 20-35 hours/week, one weekend day, rotating shifts, and be available over the summer.  Food service experience is also a MUST, and barista experience a definite plus.

Our spin sessions will be FUN and you are welcome to join and pedal at your own pace.  We’ll mix it up with Spinervals, movie nights, and some sweet music.  (ALSO!  Free coffee!)  You just bring your bike.

Get your hands dirty learning more about bike maintenance. This is an excellent class for someone with a relatively modern or brand new bike who wishes to learn about maintenance.  The emphasis is on knowing when there is a problem, and on cleaning the bike.  Students will see demonstrations, discuss and perform tire and tube service, brake service, and gear adjustments. Areas of the bike that will be discussed:

• Basic Bicycle Maintenance
• Tires & Tubes
• Hub, Rear Sprockets & Headsets
• Wheel Truing & Pedals
• Chains, Cranks & Bottom Brackets
• Derailleur Systems
• Rim Caliper Brake Systems

INTERMEDIATE CLASS (two 5-hour sessions): $124.99 – Includes Park Tool’s Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair (a $24.99 value) & 2 cafe lunches of your choice.  Make it a Deluxe package for $374.99 and you’ll get a Park Tool Shop Apron and the Park Tool AK-37 Tool Kit (a $375 value) in addition.

This class will cover content similar to the basic shop tune up.  This class is a great option for someone who has tried basic repairs. Students should have some familiarity with the topics presented, but not necessarily have experience. Areas of the bike that will be discussed:

We’ve got 2012 Bianchis rolling in and plenty of fenders and arm and legwarmers for the fall weather.  There have been many long days and nights spent at the shop and we appreciate everyone’s patience during our busiest season and expansion!  We also had great fun this year at the Westcott Fair with the addition of the cafe, and recently featured a Groupon deal (get it while it lasts!)

Also don’t miss SYRACROSS–cyclocross race at Highland Forest October 29th.  Register now!  Stop by the cafe and Brian will tell you all about the race, or about cyclocross.  Spectators encouraged!  There will be waffles, coffee, and Middle Ages beer… so be there!

Torker

Check out these new bikes we’ve got in the shop!  We recently became a dealer of Torker bikes and they are AWESOME.  Great for commuting–these bikes are spec’d for quality, long-wear, low maintenance, and practicality.  Plus they just look awesome.  In store we have the Graduate, U-District, KB2, Cargo-T, and the Interurban coming soon.

Also we’ve got Surly‘s touring bike, the Long Haul Trucker–come in and dream up your Summer tour.  We’ve also got the Steamroller in the house, Surly’s tough steel fixie.

Twin Six

Finally we’ve replenished our stock with more Twin Six jerseys than ever.  If you aren’t familiar with Twin Six, they make some awesome cycling apparel that’s not ugly.  Ladies, this means they don’t have pink and lilac dragonflies with tribal bands, and gentlemen, this means they are the opposite of the douche-y mainstream stuff.

DZR Shoes

Last but not least, new to the shop are DZR Shoes!  We are super pumped about these.  Ripped them out of the box today and put them on and they are really comfortable and cool, even for walking around.  We get a lot of people in the shop that would like to use clipless pedals but want shoes that are nice enough to go to work in / cool enough to wear around town.  These definitely fit the bill on style, affordability and comfort.  We wore ours all day and our feet feel great–which you couldn’t do with 99% of other cycling shoes.
